  Anxiety & Restlessness
Feelings of worry, nervousness, tension, or uneasiness are common for a person who is ill. This can lead to trouble sleeping, irritability, shortness of breath and other discomforts. Medication may be needed to manage anxiety symptoms, consult your nurse for more information. The suggestions below may bring some relief:
→ Notice if there is a pattern of when the anxiety comes up and what helps calm it.
→ Keep the environment calm by limiting visitors, playing soft music, or talking
→ Massage the patient’s arms, back, hands or feet.
→ Try breathing or relaxation exercise, prayer or meditation.
Call Guardian Hospice if:
→ The anxiety is getting worse.
→ You need to talk to somebody about fears or issues that
are making you anxious.
→ You need reassurance.
