 About cremation
Cremation is an alternative to traditional burial: it does not limit the funeral in any way. Should you choose cremation, you will still have the same options for memorialization that any other family has. Cremation can take place before or after the funeral service. In this section, we’ve answered the most common questions we are asked about cremation. If you require further information, please contact us at any time.
Important information about cremation:
• Cremation cannot occur until there is a signed Death Certificate, which we acquire
• There is a 24 hour waiting period before cremation in the state of NC. This helps misidentification and allows time for family to reconsider, if they choose
• You have numerous options for the final resting place
• You can scatter some or all of the cremains
• Urns can be placed in a Memory Capsule vault and friends and family members can add personal keepsakes.
• You have numerous options for a service
Is Embalming Required?
Embalming is not mandatory; however, if you choose a public viewing, it may be required.
What is an Urn?
Cremains are returned in a temporary container. Cremains may be transferred by the funeral home to an urn of the family’s choice.
